We cannot allow the Trump administration's pro-polluter giveaway to poison
the air we breathe, especially during a public health crisis. Help fund
this and other fights — in and out of court — today.

Dear NRDC Activist,

President Trump is rolling back another important environmental safeguard
— this time, he's attacking lifesaving fuel efficiency standards known as
"clean car standards". But yesterday, we filed suit in federal court to
stop him.

As tens of thousands of Americans are dying of virus-inflicted respiratory
illness due to COVID-19, President Trump is making the air we breathe even
dirtier — and putting countless lives at grave risk. This is
unconscionable.

[ [link removed] ]We cannot let it happen. Will you help us mount the strongest legal
case possible to stop this and other anti-environment attacks? Please,
make a tax-deductible gift to NRDC now — we're trying to raise $150,000 by
June 2.

Transportation is already the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions
in the United States. If the Trump administration gets its way, cars and
trucks in our country will be allowed to belch nearly one billion tons
more carbon dioxide into the air than they can under the current
standards.

These rollbacks are enormously damaging to the countless Americans living
with respiratory diseases like asthma. They will also cost consumers
billions more at the pump to fuel needlessly gas-guzzling cars.

And they will spew massive amounts of climate-destroying carbon pollution
into our atmosphere at the very moment when we're running out of time to
mitigate the worst impacts of climate change.

And for what? To appease the corporate polluters who have allied
themselves with this administration. The current standards put in place by
the Obama administration are not only overwhelmingly supported by the
American public — even some major automakers like Ford, BMW, Honda, and
Volkswagen agree the rollbacks are a step too far.

[ [link removed] ]The Trump administration's rollbacks are dangerous, irresponsible, and
illegal — and we're determined to defeat them in court. But we can't do it
without you. Will you pitch in today to power this and all of our fights
to protect the environment?

Though much of the world has slowed down as we collectively grapple with
the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, NRDC's work to protect the environment on
every front continues. We're more determined than ever to beat back this
administration's relentless attacks on our planet and public health.

Thank you so much for sticking with us — we know this is a challenging
time for everyone, and we're deeply grateful to have your support.

Sincerely,

Luke Tonachel
Director, Clean Vehicles and Fuels Group, NRDC
