[ [link removed] ]The New Republic: Senate Democrats are finally taking a stand against
Donald Trump’s government rampage.
Earlier this evening, Senate Dems led by Jeff Merkley (OR-Sen) wrapped up
a grueling 30-hour marathon to "hold the floor" to protest and resist the
confirmation of a key Trump nominee, Russell Vought.
Dozens of Senate Dems refused to give up the floor, speaking through the
night on Vought's support for Trump freezing trillions of dollars in
federal spending, his coordination with Elon Musk to dismantle federal
agencies, and his active role as an architect of Project 2025.
When Dems fight with backbone like this, working through the night to
resist one of Trump’s most evil nominees, we need to let them know we see
them and show them our thanks. When we do that, it encourages them to do
more and others to do some.
[ [link removed] ]Can you chip in to support Jeff Merkley, Chris Murphy, Elizabeth
Warren, Raphael Warnock, Andy Kim, Brian Schatz, and over twenty Senate
Democrats in total who held the floor to protest Trump's nomination of
Project 2025 architect Russell Vought? Chip in here. (And please pass to
others.)
Democrats spent months flailing against Trump and Musk, but now they're
starting to change their tune...
[ [link removed] ]Sen. Merkley: I’m kicking off a group of @SenateDems holding the Senate
floor in opposition to Trump’s dangerous Office of Management and Budget
nominee, Radical Russ Vought.
[ [link removed] ]Sen Warren: "No more business as usual. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are
imposing pain on millions of people. Tonight, we’re taking this fight to
the Senate floor. Russ Vought - author of Project 2025 - is up for a vote,
and Democrats are using every second to throw a wrench in their plan."
[ [link removed] ]Sen. Murphy: "I spent three hours, from 2am to 5am, on the floor last
night protesting the nomination of Russ Vought, the architect of the plan
to destroy democratic protections and hand over our government to the
billionaires and corporations. "
[ [link removed] ]Sen. Gallego: We don’t have to imagine what Russell Vought would do. He
already told us in Project 2025. We protested through the night to send a
clear message: NO to Russell Vought. We cannot stand idle while he seeks
to harm Arizona children and families.
[ [link removed] ]Trump and Musk have made it clear they're willing to violate the law to
vilify federal workers and dismantle key government services — and Russ
Vought will only add fuel to that dangerous fire. Tune in as I explain why
I'm voting NO on Vought⬇️
We are in a moment that demands courage. These Democrats who stayed up all
night to resist are showing it. Others are watching to see how the public
reacts. So now it’s our turn.
[ [link removed] ]Chip in now to show Democrats that when they fight with backbone, we
fight with them!
Thanks for being part of this fight.
