Elon Musk, Trump’s favorite billionaire crony, took over the Treasury Department’s payment system this week — the system that processes Social Security and Medicare benefits, funding for school lunches and cancer research, and so much more.
This means that Musk and his allies now have their hands on $6 trillion in federal spending meant for working families, veterans, retirees, and the most vulnerable Americans. And even though Congress, not the president, controls federal spending—Musk has already pledged to slash any spending they don’t support. It’s reckless, stupid, and illegal.
But that’s not all. Trump has also empowered Musk to dismantle agencies entirely, including USAID, the agency that oversees aid around the world, and the Department of Education, which supports our entire public school system.
This isn’t just corruption – this is a full-scale hijacking of our democracy. That’s why we can’t afford to sit this one out. We MUST fight back with everything we have.
