As one of the most vocal representatives speaking out against MAGA, I have to admit: the situation right now in D.C. is worse than I imagined.
This week, unelected billionaire Elon Musk has taken unprecedented steps to dismantle our federal government — purging the federal workforce, accessing personal information from millions of Americans, suspending U.S. foreign aid, and potentially abolishing the Department of Education next.
It’s not a coincidence they are doing this all at once - it’s a strategy to confuse and muffle our response. It is vital that Democrats respond by doing the following:
Litigate. So far we’ve sponsored 20 lawsuits on 11 Executive Orders and have achieved temporary stays on ending birthright citizenship and government funding suspension.
Use our leverage in the House. Republicans cannot pass a budget without Democrats and we must hold our ground.
Organize. We need to identify common themes, like Trump putting unelected goons like Musk in power, and find ways to galvanize voters around it.
Do not give into the flurry of scary headlines. Do not let your emotions overwhelm you, that’s what they want. We need to stay focused and fight back effectively.
