Right now, there’s a letter circulating among Members of Congress that condemns President Trump’s suggestion that the US “take over” Gaza and force millions of Palestinians from the land they call home.
The President’s suggestion is grotesque, unworkable and a violation of international law and our values – and we need as many Jewish Americans, allies and Members of Congress to stand up and say so.
As we’ve seen before, the more political resistance Trump encounters, the more likely he is to back down – and now is not a time to allow Trump, Netanyahu and right-wing extremists to reset the goalposts.

Let’s be clear: When the President muses about turning Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” he’s advocating for the US-backed destruction of an entire society. Forcing two million Palestinians – already weary from over a year of a devastating war – from their land is unworkable, and only fuels endless violence, conflict and chaos for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Even if the White House has no intention of actually acting on this plan, Trump has already handed anti-Israel and anti-American terror groups a potent, mobilizing recruitment tool – and has undercut the challenging work ahead for negotiators to keep the ceasefire and hostage deal on track.
The Congressional letter, led by Representatives Sean Casten and Brad Sherman, demands the President retract his dangerous comments and reaffirms congressional commitment to a regional agreement for an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel – the only viable long-term path to guarantee peace, safety and freedom for both the Israeli and Palestinian people.
We’re heartened to see our Congressional allies take an immediate and powerful stand against Trump’s unhinged bluster. To keep up the pressure, we’re asking our community to join us in that stand by signing on to the letter themselves to help us build support.
We will not sit idly by while Trump takes a wrecking ball to the fragile ceasefire that’s finally reuniting hostages with their families and keeping millions of civilians safe from harm.
We cannot be silent as the US President suggests forcing millions of civilians from their land, causing them to suffer more than they’ve already been made to.
