Dear MoveOn member,
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are closer than ever to shutting down NPR and
PBS.
Trump has explicitly called for NPR to be defunded, calling it "a liberal
disinformation machine."^1 Musk has listed NPR and PBS funding as part of
the sweeping cuts he's attempting through his so-called "Department of
Government Efficiency."^2
Trump's FCC head has launched a politically motivated investigation into
NPR and PBS—a move designed to manufacture an excuse to revoke their
broadcast licenses or, at a bare minimum, cripple their funding.^3
And in a late Friday order, Trump notified NPR, along with The New York
Times, NBC News, and Politico, that they would be expelled from their
dedicated office space at the Pentagon. They are being replaced by the
right-wing sites Breitbart News and One America News, which have
repeatedly spread conspiracy theories and disinformation.^4
We need your help to raise a ruckus, urgently, loudly, and powerfully, to
save NPR and PBS.
With your help, MoveOn will do the following:
* Flood Congress with calls to save NPR and PBS
* Expose Trump's plan to silence independent media
* Mobilize MoveOn members to fight back

Public media leaders are warning that if cuts to public broadcasting go
through, many NPR and PBS stations won't survive. And that means an end to
a huge amount of independent journalism in this country.
If that were to happen, some Americans—particularly those in rural
areas—could lose access to all of these:
* "Sesame Street" and PBS Kids
* Investigative reporting from "Frontline" and PBS "NewsHour"
* NPR's in-depth, fact-based journalism
* And local reporting in rural communities across America^5
Trump isn't the first president to try to cut NPR and PBS. Republicans
have been trying to cut funding for decades. We've stopped them before,
which means we can win this fight.
But right now, the threat is greater than ever. The risks to public
broadcasting are higher than they've been in decades, and we must pull out
all the stops to save NPR and PBS.
Please: Start a monthly donation to power and sustain our emergency
efforts to stop Trump's attacks on NPR and PBS!
