Sign on to demand gun violence be treated as the public health crisis it is

John, I was disturbed to hear Robert F. Kennedy Jr. state that gun violence is not a public health crisis. As the nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, he does not believe that researching gun violence is important.

This couldn’t be more wrong. How is the leading cause of death for children in our country not counted as a crisis? According to the gun violence archive, there were almost 50k deaths and injuries from gun violence in 2024 alone.

America needs leadership in the Executive Branch who will treat this issue with the gravity it deserves. Sign on to my petition demanding Robert F. Kennedy Jr. prioritize addressing gun violence prevention in his new position.

His statements are part of an effort to downplay gun violence in order to appease the NRA and other special interest groups.

It’s putting politics over people.

And as the mother of a child who was killed in a senseless shooting, I can’t bear the thought that more families could be put in my position due to selfishness and petty politics from this new administration.

Gun violence prevention measures are effective, and we’ve seen major progress in the last few years. We can’t let them unravel it. Please sign my petition today to demand the federal government continue to research and address gun violence for the next four years.

Thank you,
Lucy McBath
