Hi John —
We're living in an unprecedented time with the new administration taking our country on a dangerous roller coaster ride of overreaching executive orders, bizarre announcements and illegal actions that are leaving us stunned and angry.
I know many of you are already taking action. Thank you for your energy and work to push back.
Here are five ideas to consider that will hold up our values and precious democracy:
(1) Celebrate Black History Month! With the continued assault on diversity, equity and inclusion, it's important to recognize that February is Black History Month. Send an email to your mayor and local governing body asking them for a Proclamation honoring the contributions of Black Americans to our country. If they are planning a Proclamation, attend the meeting and speak in favor of it during the public comment portion. [link removed] [[link removed]]
(2) Call Your Reps.! Make five calls every day to your legislators, with help from this app that provides phone numbers and a script based on your zip code. [link removed] [[link removed]]

(3) Reach Out! Contact your Municipal Chair or join a Caucus, and offer to help expand the Democratic Party.

(4) Do something positive! Help those who are most vulnerable by volunteering at your local food bank; supporting a nonprofit event; or attending the upcoming Town Hall in Morristown to support the LGBTQ+ community and families. It will help others and benefit your own mental health [link removed] [[link removed]]

(5) Run for Something! What better way to stand up for democracy than putting your name on the ballot? Give voters in your town and the county a choice! [link removed] [[link removed]]
