John, I want to tell you a quick story…

I just got reminded of some old photos and it made me realize how blessed and fortunate I am to be where I am today.

This photo was taken when I was a young boy living in North Charleston, South Carolina. Back then I couldn’t have imagined that I’d one day be a Senator working to make the American Dream a reality for all Americans.

When I was just a kid, my mother worked long hours to put food on the table for my brother and I and keep a roof over our heads. My mother’s determination and guidance taught me the importance of hard work and education. Even though my grandfather never learned how to read, my family taught me early on that education was the closest thing to magic in America.

Fast forward to high school, I was on the football team. Back then, I promised myself I would play for the Dallas Cowboys when I was old enough. With a job like that, I knew I’d be able to repay my mom for all the sacrifices she made for my brother and me.

To put it plainly: football was an escape. It was my ticket out of poverty, and my way to give back.

As I’ve come to learn, life often takes unexpected turns and that’s exactly what happened. One day I fell asleep behind the wheel of my mom’s car, flipping it and nearly losing my life in the process.

While that might’ve spelled the end of my football career, I went on to find Christ in college and sure enough, I was able to discover a new path to fulfilling the American Dream!

A few years later, and with the help of some key mentors, I was able to find business success and used that success to improve the lives of others.

After my time in the business world, I decided that I wanted to run for public office and serve the people in my community — and I chose to do so as a Republican.

Since then, I have become the first Black man elected to the U.S. Senate from a Southern State since Reconstruction. I’ve worked with President Trump, Senate Republicans, and Patriots around the country to make the American Dream a reality for everyone.

What I’ve learned along the way is simple: When the right leaders are in charge, ensuring government overreach doesn’t interfere, every American is capable of making their American Dream a reality.

I hope I’ve been able to give you a more clear picture of my life and what’s brought me to this point. Thank you for being on Team Tim Scott, I know that with you by my side, my work to ensure the American Dream thrives will never fail!

Before you go I’d like to ask
