John,
Right now, the richest person on Earth is seizing control of $6 trillion in Social Security checks, Medicare, tax refunds, and other payments that our families depend on. Elon Musk’s former staff have infiltrated many federal agencies and locked out federal employees from computer systems with sensitive data about millions of Americans.
We must all push back immediately against this unconstitutional takeover and unprecedented power grab. This week people have been protesting in front of agencies like the Treasury Department, with one activist saying, “This amounts to a coup.” And courageous organizations are fighting back by suing the Trump administration for its illegal and unconstitutional actions.
As your congresswoman, I will keep blocking these attacks even if I have to put my body on the line. I will do everything in my power to hold this lawless administration accountable. All other congressional Democrats need to step up as well.
Congress cannot go on with business as usual while Donald Trump and Elon Musk illegally seize control of federal agencies and torch the government. Add your name to join me in saying that we will fight back and do everything in our power to hold this lawless administration accountable.
Trump and his billionaire friends don’t care about people’s well-being, they care about corporate profits.
With a combined net worth of nearly $1 trillion, the three wealthiest men in America—who sat up front at Trump’s inauguration—have no idea what the majority of Americans experience living paycheck to paycheck. People in my district and around the country are drowning just trying to make ends meet, and we cannot allow an unelected billionaire to hack our data and cut life-saving programs while enriching himself and the billionaire class.
Many actions from the Trump administration are clearly unconstitutional, including dismantling federal agencies without congressional approval, cutting funding for essential services already allocated by Congress (which has already delayed federal grant payments to essential programs like Head Start), and more.
It’s Congress’s job to uphold the Constitution and provide oversight over the executive branch of government (the president). People protesting outside federal agencies this week have held signs saying “Do your job, Congress.”
Add your name to join me in saying that we will do everything in our power to block Trump’s policies and appointees. Together, we must forcefully speak out against policies that harm our communities.
Thank you for taking action. Although this frightening violence is harming our communities, we’ve already seen the Trump administration walk back a number of proposals after Americans spoke up. Remember: Trump won less than 50% of the popular vote. And as Senator Bernie Sanders reminded us, “While Republicans may control the House and the Senate, their margins are slim. They are susceptible to citizen outrage.”
We will resist together. We will boycott, march, outwork the hate, out-organize the billionaire class, and free our communities from the cruelty of these policies and actions. Together we have power.
Always fighting for you,
Rashida
