MSNBC'S CHRIS HAYES: This is really important. We are finally starting to see people get up off the mat and fight back.

Over two dozen Democratic lawmakers rallied thousands in front of the U.S. Treasury building Tuesday, DEMANDING an end to Elon Musk’s coup against the American people.

Chris Hayes told viewers, "This is really important. We are finally starting to see people get up off the mat and fight back."

Senator Chris Murphy and House freshman class president Yassamin Ansari promised to use EVERY TOOL at their disposal to tie up Congress until the coup ended. (Indivisible’s co-leader called out Schumer for not yet doing the same – minutes after Schumer spoke! Bold!)

Jeff Merkley and other Senate Dems are right now "holding the floor" in the Senate to try to stop confirmation of Russell Vought, who the New York Times calls "the architect of the ultraconservative Project 2025 policy agenda" and who is tied to Trump's directive last week to temporarily freeze trillions of dollars of federal spending.

Those Democrats who FIGHT in this moment deserve our support. Getting their back also sends a message to their colleagues to follow their lead.

HUGE: On Tuesday thousands of people joined the 'Nobody Elected Elon' protest in front of the Treasury Dept to fight back against the corrupt billionaires trying to steal from us. These are some of the strongest moments from top Democrats.

ELIZABETH WARREN: A few months ago, Elon Musk spent $280 million to buy an election for Donald Trump. Now Elon Musk is here to collect on his investment. He is here to seize power for himself. We are here to fight back.

REPRESENTATIVE JAMIE RASKIN (MD-08)

JAMIE RASKIN: Do you want Elon Musk controlling your parents' Social Security checks? Do you want Elon Musk controlling the flow of money to the red states or the blue states? Do you want Elon Musk controlling congressional appropriations to disaster areas around America?

REPRESENTATIVE MAXWELL FROST (FL-10)

MAXWELL FROST: You mean to tell me a man worth over $400 billion is going to decide what happens with my grandma's Social Security check? There's absolutely no oversight as to what he's doing. What's to stop him from stealing taxpayer money?

REPRESENTATIVE MELANIE STANSBURY (NM-01)

MELANIE STANSBURY: We are not going to let an unelected private citizen steal our data. We are not going to let Elon Musk steal our country, and we are not going to let Donald Trump dismantle everything that America stands for, because this is our country.

REPRESENTATIVE DAVE MIN (CA-47)

DAVE MIN: We're here because Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, is repeatedly and blatantly breaking the law, including by usurping our authorities, the legislative and appropriations authority expressly reserved to Congress.

After consulting with former Treasury officials, we sent this "worst case scenarios" memo to Democratic offices showing the potential impacts of Musk's hostile takeover on everything from Social Security to the debt ceiling.

The memo makes clear the severity of this crisis. We are in a moment that demands courage. These Democrats and more who spoke at Treasury yesterday are showing it. Others are watching to see how the public reacts. So now it’s our turn.
