Dear John,
Last weekend, a woman I don’t know was about to pass me on the sidewalk and then stopped, turned toward me, and almost shouted, “It’s a f*cking nightmare!”
She’s right. In fact, the first two horrific weeks of Trump II have been even worse than I’d imagined.
He’s “flooding the zone” with so many outrageous (and often illegal) initiatives that many people are overwhelmed, demoralized, and just plain freaked out. That’s the intent.
But there will be a reckoning.
As this “f*cking nightmare” gets worse, it will awaken Americans to what has happened to this country — and what we must do to get it back on the track toward social justice, democracy, and widespread prosperity.
That’s where we come in. Every day, the team at Inequality Media is producing viral video explainers and posts to educate the public and help accelerate that awakening, and it’s working.
We’re getting more views, shares, and engagement across social media than ever before, and we’re not just preaching to the choir. In fact, we have an unusually large proportion of self-identified independents and conservatives among our followers.
But with Trump and Musk shredding the U.S. Constitution before our eyes, we need to ramp up our efforts, and I’m counting on your help. That’s why I’m asking you today: Will you make a monthly donation to help educate the public and fight back against Donald Trump’s authoritarian agenda?
The Trump regime will harm many innocent people. It already has. His lawless cruelty is sickening — as is the cowardice of so many CEOs, Wall Street bankers, social media titans, members of Congress, and other so-called “leaders” who are staying mum, obeying in advance, and/or sucking up to Trump.
But we can and must do everything possible to protect the people who are most vulnerable to this nightmare.
For starters, that means volunteering with local organizations, calling your members of Congress, joining protests, speaking to friends and family who are tempted by Trump’s lies, boycotting companies that support MAGA, and pushing your local and state governments to enact policies to combat Trumpism.
It also means simply telling the truth. We cannot allow Trump to rewrite history by declaring that January 6 was a “day of love.” We must push back on hateful lies like his claim that the tragic Washington, D.C., plane crash was a result of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This is a fight that Inequality Media was built for. We’re in a battle for the survival of democracy. And with your help, Inequality Media will use our huge following across social media to get out the truth, debunk the MAGA lies, and hold Trump accountable for his assault on democracy.
So if you’re with me and can afford it, please make a monthly donation to help get the truth out, educate the public, and fight back against Donald Trump’s authoritarian agenda.
Thank you,
Robert Reich
