Just a few weeks into his second administration, President Trump is unraveling our progress and destroying critical protections every chance he gets. One of the most egregious examples is his executive order banning transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military.
What’s worse is that unlike Trump’s original ban, this executive order aims to remove currently serving transgender servicemembers. This blatant discrimination is a disgraceful attack on our armed forces.
It hurts our military to turn away brave, qualified Americans who want to serve our country, solely based on their gender identity.
I stood against this ban in 2017, and I am fighting back again this time. I will always stand with the LGBTQ+ community and with our military. Help me send a clear message that the majority of Americans do not support Trump’s transgender troop ban – add your name here:
Research has shown that allowing transgender people to serve in the military does not hurt unit cohesion or capability – in fact, all service members have been shown to benefit from a more inclusive and diverse force.
Trump’s original ban on transgender troops did nothing to improve our military readiness or national security. Yet, he is intent on waging this regressive culture war.
