John,

I am honored to introduce myself as the new chair of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

I came to Danbury from Brazil when I was five years old, and I’ve seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with starting a new life in this country. From being a member of the Danbury Police Explorers to serving on the City Council and now as Mayor, every step of my journey has strengthened my belief in how Democratic values and policies can truly make a difference in people’s lives.

This is a time of transition for Democrats, both here in Connecticut and nationally. As we welcome Ken Martin as the new DNC Chair, our party is moving forward with renewed energy and a clear vision. The strong partnership between state parties and the DNC is critical as we work to protect democracy and expand opportunities for all Americans.

Together with our outstanding leadership team - Vice Chair Adrienne Billings-Smith, Vice Chair Jimmy Tickey, Secretary Audrey Blondin, and our new Treasurer Vanita Bhalla, we are ready to build on our progress and fight for a brighter future for Connecticut.

Here in Connecticut, we’re committed to strong messaging, effective, strategic grassroots organizing, and open communication. The table is big enough for anyone who wants a seat, and I’m excited to begin this work together to build a stronger, more resilient and nimble Connecticut Democratic Party. 

We’re committed to making sure the party isn’t just communicating - but truly listening. In the coming months, you’ll hear from me and the entire CT Dems team, and make no mistake, we want to hear from you, too. I’m planning listening sessions across our state to ensure Connecticut Democrats have a voice in shaping our future. 

I look forward to working alongside you to strengthen our party and create positive change in communities across Connecticut.
