E-scooters will return to Nottingham as Dott announced as new operator ??

Nottingham City Council is excited to announce the re-launch of e-scooters across the city. Dott [ [link removed] ] has been chosen to operate the e-scooter scheme in Nottingham, offering a greener travel option to help take cars off our roads and improve air quality. The striking blue and red e-scooters are approved by the Department for Transport (DfT) and are used in other UK cities such as Bristol and Milton Keynes. The e-scooters are expected to be on the streets in early spring 2025 and will join e-bikes already available to hire [ [link removed] ].

Around 1300 e-scooters will be available to hire from approximately 300 mandatory parking locations across the city.

Exciting news from Nottingham's Travel Well programme ??‍♀️
Travel Well walking activity

Over the past year, we’ve been helping people embrace walking and cycling for healthier, more active lifestyles. As part of a national trial, the programme has given healthcare professionals and social prescribers the ability to refer patients to services that promote walking and cycling.

With free activities like bike maintenance workshops, led walks, and cycle training, plus easy-to-follow walking routes on the Go Jauntly app, over 1330 participants have already joined in. A free community e-bike library with 46 e-bikes/e-trikes for loan will also open in 2025.

Bikes and helmets will be available free for those who don’t have their own bikes.

Come along to these family drop in sessions where we will be enjoying cycling activities, also advice and guidance will be available about learning to ride and building confidence for both adults and children.

Nottingham City Council begins trial of new location for taxi rank close to the front of Nottingham Station

Nottingham City Council has begun an 18-month trial to understand if a new location could be a permanent safe option for additional taxi ranks serving residents and visitors using Nottingham Railway Station. 

Carrington Street is being trialled as a location for a rank of eight wheelchair accessible taxis adding additional taxi capacity close to the front of Nottingham Railway Station.  A linked ‘feeder’ rank located on Arkwright Street, holding a further eight wheelchair accessible taxis will also be trialled.

Enforcement cameras go live at two city locations

The first two locations where the City Council will begin moving traffic enforcement using ANPR cameras will go live on Monday 10 February:    [ [link removed] ]


* The section of Shakespeare Street from its junction with Goldsmith Street (the block paved pedestrian friendly area). Vehicles travelling through an area of high pedestrian activity create a significant risk of serious injury to other road users   

* The section of Victoria Embankment from a point in line with the suspension bridge Vehicles travelling through the recreational area in front of the war memorial create a significant risk of serious injury to other road users. Physical barriers were previously introduced on Victoria Embankment to prevent through traffic, and these will be removed and cameras installed. The route will be clearly signed to inform drivers that ANPR technology is now in place.   

During the first six months of the cameras going live, drivers will receive a warning letter if they break the law, moving to a penalty charge notice of £70, reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days, from six months after go-live OR their second offence.  All money received from these fines will be spent on the scheme, such as maintenance to camera equipment or improving the highway.  

In both locations, emergency vehicles, buses and permit holders will be able to travel through the area.

New electric buses for West Bridgford!

The next batch of our Green electric buses enters service this week!  Look out for them on routes 5, 7, 8, and 9. Join Nottingham City Transport on Saturday 8 February at Central Avenue, West Bridgford, between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM, as they celebrate their launch.
