Dear Community,
Today, I write to you with gratitude and a deep sense of commitment to the values that have always guided The Center. We are a safe and affirming space for all LGBTQ+ New Yorkers to come together, get support, and respond to the challenges we face.
The recent and ongoing threats—and their implications—are very real, but I want to assure you: We are here for you.
Our mission to empower LGBTQ+ people to live healthy and successful lives remains steadfast and true. For more than 40 years, The Center has remained resilient, stepping up to advocate for all LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, especially when forces are aligned against us. Whether it's through recovery and wellness programs, youth support, advocacy efforts, or simply being a space for people to connect and celebrate, we remain committed to meeting the evolving needs of our entire community.
Despite the threats to our funding, we pledge to keep our doors open and ensure that as many services as possible continue without interruption. But we need your support to sustain us in the days to come.
How you can help:
Your ongoing support—whether through your time, your advocacy, or your generosity—means the world to us. Every contribution, every effort, no matter the method, helps us continue to create a space where everyone can feel seen, heard, and empowered.
We are here for our community, and that will never change. Together, we will continue to ensure that The Center remains a heart and home for all LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, providing our community with the compassion and care it deserves.
In solidarity and gratitude,

Dr. Carla Smith, CEO
