Reducing College Costs for Low-Income Students

California’s low-income college students typically qualify for the maximum need-based financial aid, but they may find it challenging to cover their remaining financial burden. This burden can be eased by two major safety net programs, CalFresh and Medi-Cal, which help low-income residents pay for groceries and access health care coverage.
