Every family deserves access to care. Some lawmakers want to take that away – that's why we need you to add your voice to today's "Hands Off Our Medicaid” National Day of Action! [[link removed]]

Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of families , ensuring children get the healthcare they need, aging loved ones can receive care at home, and people with disabilities have access to essential services. But now, Medicaid is under attack .

Some lawmakers are pushing massive cuts that would strip healthcare from millions—all while protecting tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. If they succeed, families will be left without options, and caregivers—who are mostly Black, Latina, immigrant, and other women of color—will see their jobs and wages threatened.

This fight is about real people—parents, children, caregivers, and aging loved ones—who depend on Medicaid every day.

That’s why NDWA is joining partners across the country for the “Hands Off Our Medicaid” National Day of Action . Alongside groups like SEIU, Families USA, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and the National Health Law Program, we’re mobilizing to demand lawmakers protect Medicaid and the families who rely on it. Medicaid isn’t just healthcare—it’s the foundation of home care jobs.

Medicaid funds home care programs that allow aging loved ones and people with disabilities to receive care at home instead of being forced into expensive institutions . It ensures parents don’t have to choose between paying rent and getting their children the medical care they need. And for many caregivers, Medicaid is the only way they can afford healthcare themselves.

If these cuts happen:

* Families in crisis —Medicaid covers half of all births and nursing home care, meaning millions could lose essential care.
* Care workers left behind —Many domestic workers and home care providers rely on Medicaid not just for their careers but for their own healthcare.
* Children without healthcare —Nearly half of U.S. kids could lose access to doctors and critical medical services.

Just last week, a federal funding freeze threw programs like Medicaid into uncertainty—causing chaos for families and care providers. While the courts have intervened in response to that freeze, it was a clear reminder of how vulnerable these essential programs are.

If we don’t act now, lawmakers will push through devastating Medicaid cuts that could have lasting consequences for millions.

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
