Friend, this month is the seventh anniversary of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students and faculty members were killed – including my 14-year-old daughter, Jaime.

Jaime was gunned down by an assault weapon as she ran down the halls of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, a weapon that should never have been in the hands of a civilian, let alone in a school. And it should never have been wielded against my child or any of the other children and faculty members killed that day.

Seven years ago, my life, my family, and our community were absolutely shattered. But for the past seven years of unimaginable grief and pain, one thing has remained the same: Republicans in Congress refuse to act to rid our communities from the threat of gun violence.

But I promise you this: Despite their inaction, I will never stop fighting to prevent tragedies like Parkland from ever happening again.

That's why I've worked hard to support organizations like Brady PAC that are who are fighting to counteract the NRA’s influence in Washington, defeat the gun lobby’s bought-and-paid-for politicians, and replace them with gun safety champions.

Today, I’m asking you to join me in this fight. As we remember the lives tragically cut short by gun violence seven years ago in Parkland, please: make a donation to Brady PAC so that together, we can show Washington that the time for cowardly inaction is over and that we will defeat them through grassroots organizing.

For decades, our leaders in Washington have failed children like my daughter. Their cowardice has prevented us from banning the assault weapon that murdered her and dozens of others like her. Their inaction allowed the gunman who killed her to purchase that weapon legally – at just 18 years old. And their greed has stopped them from caring about the thousands of families like mine who've paid the ultimate price for their failures.

And as the Trump administration threatens to roll back the last four years of progress made by President Biden, our fight to save lives and end gun violence is more crucial than ever.

I know this moment feels dark, but we’ve seen darkness before. We saw deep into the heart of darkness seven years ago when 17 precious lives were destroyed. But in the aftermath of that tragedy and each of the ones that have followed, I have seen our communities come together and demand change. We cannot stop now.

So, if you are able, please make a contribution to Brady PAC so they can keep putting in the work to end gun violence and doing what it takes to prevent the next tragedy so I never have to send another email like this one again.

Thank you for fighting with us,

Fred Guttenberg
Jaime and Jesse's dad
