We're getting everything we warned about from the Trump administration. It's chaotic, it's cruel, and it's putting people in danger.
The confusion is intentional. The flurry of attacks on civil rights, health care, and vulnerable communities are meant to overwhelm us and get us to back down and give up.
At Planned Parenthood, that's never gonna happen. So I need you to remember something important: We can make a difference. As individuals, and especially when we work together. No matter what attacks come, we will fight back.
Congress can protect our rights and access to care — but they won't unless they hear a LOUD demand from all of us.
Tell Congress to defend our health and rights from President Trump's actions — and get ready to keep speaking out.
Just weeks in, the Trump administration has already:
-
Pardoned 23 anti-abortion extremists who violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act), a federal law which protects patients, providers, and health center staff from violence.
-
Attempted to stop funding critical health care programs.
-
Issued an order attacking gender-affirming care and trans youth.
-
Outlined steps for agencies to cancel crucial sex ed programming that teaches diversity and LGBTQ+-related topics in schools.
-
Reinstated the deadly global gag rule, which cut off global health funding for international organizations if they provide, counsel, refer, or advocate for abortion in their country — even if NO U.S. funds support these activities.
-
Removed critical health care information from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other government websites — including on topics like contraceptives, trans health care, STI information and more.
-
Halted all foreign aid and dismantled USAID, including life-saving family planning and reproductive health programs.
Congress must do more to protect the rights and health of their constituents and communities around the world
— and they can.
This is only the beginning, and there are more attacks to come — but remember that we're in this together. We're fighting for our rights, our health, our future, our lives, and the people we love.
Every time you take action, you help to strengthen our movement.
Take a minute right now to tell Congress to use every tool at their disposal to protect our health care. It's a quick, meaningful way to make a difference.
We'll follow up soon with more ways you can stay involved.
Thanks,
Jacqueline Ayers, Senior Vice President of Policy, Campaigns, Advocacy
Planned Parenthood Federation of America
