Elon Musk holds no legal authority in our government — yet Trump has handed him control over the U.S. Treasury’s federal payment system. That means Musk and his cronies now have unchecked access to our personal financial records, Social Security numbers, and trillions of public dollars.
But that’s not all. Reports just emerged that Musk’s so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) has infiltrated the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This means they also now control the systems that handle payments and contracts for our healthcare programs — raising serious concerns about the security of Medicare and Medicaid.1
Let’s be clear, John: DOGE is not a government agency. It has no congressional approval, no legal standing, and no expertise. Yet, in just days, Musk and his team of unqualified twenty-somethings2 took control of the systems that handle trillions in payments every year — including Social Security checks, Medicare reimbursements, and tax refunds.
This isn’t just reckless. It’s an invasion of our government. And it’s already punishing working families.

Musk is acting as if his wealth gives him the right to govern our country. He has no respect for our laws, no experience running federal agencies, and no right to seize control of systems that millions of Americans rely on to survive. While Trump is firing public servants left and right — gutting the very institutions that protect working people — Musk is raiding federal systems and data like it’s his personal playground.
And for what? To funnel more money into billionaire pockets. To help Trump gut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. To force working people to pay the price while the ultra-rich rake in even bigger tax breaks.
Musk and Trump don’t care what they break or who gets hurt, as long as it makes them richer. But if Musk thinks we’ll take this smash-and-grab lying down, he’s in for a rude awakening.
