Email from Massachusetts Republican Party     MassGOP Monthly Update: February Edition   Friends, The Massachusetts Republican Party has launched 2025 with tremendous momentum! We hope you’ve had a great start to the new year and share our enthusiasm for the battles ahead. January was an exciting month as we welcomed a new era of American leadership with President Trump’s inauguration and saw our newly elected state legislators sworn in, ready to challenge the Democratic supermajority. Communications This month began with the arrest of an illegal immigrant in a taxpayer-funded shelter, found with firearms and $1 million in fentanyl. House Republicans responded with a letter demanding accountability, and the MassGOP stands with them in calling for urgent reform. The state's shelter system has wasted billions while fueling a humanitarian crisis—this failure must end. The MassGOP’s latest FOIA request exposed hundreds of cases of sexual assault, physical assault, child abuse, domestic violence, and drug and human trafficking—all funded by Massachusetts taxpayers. These horrific crimes, hidden by the Healey-Driscoll Administration, occurred in migrant shelters statewide. Governor Healey feigned outrage over the arrest but only ordered shelter inspections after the fact. Our FOIA requests prove her administration knew about these atrocities for years. The MassGOP is holding her accountable for this full-scale, state-funded disaster. State Rep. Chris Flanagan’s scandal keeps escalating. After deceiving voters with a fake alias in his last campaign, he’s now under federal investigation for "alleged potential criminal activity." From campaign finance violations to reports of stolen funds, Flanagan has repeatedly shown contempt for ethics. The MassGOP demands his immediate resignation or expulsion. The 1st Barnstable District deserves honest leadership. Last month, Republicans in Congress passed the Laken Riley Act, requiring ICE to detain criminal illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, ICE arrested child predators, drug dealers, and gang members in Massachusetts—proving that sanctuary policies endanger residents. Yet, all but one member of Massachusetts’ delegation voted against the act, prioritizing politics over public safety. The MassGOP made sure voters didn’t miss their betrayal. After the arrest of an illegal immigrant in a state-funded shelter, it was revealed migrants were not being screened through CORI checks—contrary to Governor Healey’s claims. House Minority Leader Brad Jones condemned the administration’s failure, and the MassGOP echoed his concerns. Either Healey misled residents, or she’s clueless about the crisis under her watch. On January 20th, the U.S. ushered in a new era with President Trump’s swearing-in. The MassGOP celebrated this victory and the strong message sent by voters: America wants secure borders, a stable economy, and safety at home. Addressing criminal illegal immigration must be a priority. Dozens of residents of Massachusetts traveled to Washington, D.C. to celebrate the ushering in of a new Golden Age. Pictured below is Party Chair Amy Carnevale, National Committeewoman Janet Fogarty and National Committeeman Brad Wyatt.   Meanwhile, the Healey-Driscoll Administration proposed a reckless $62 billion budget—a 7% increase loaded with new taxes. We swiftly responded, exposing their plan to burden hardworking families to fund their extreme agenda. With one-time revenues drying up, ballooning spending is unsustainable, especially amid a strained shelter program and fiscal uncertainty. Boston has become a hub for criminal illegal immigrant arrests, yet Mayor Wu clings to radical sanctuary policies. Now, Congress is investigating the impact of these policies on public safety. We’ve called on Wu to stand by her rhetoric and be held accountable. For years, Democrats have poured billions into the migrant crisis while rejecting Republican-led reforms. Now, the shelter budget has run out again, and Healey wants more taxpayer money. We refuse to support unchecked spending without concrete reforms to scale back the failed system. As if Healey’s tax hikes weren’t extreme enough, she’s pushing the Municipal Taxation Act, a backdoor tax grab allowing cities to impose new taxes on meals, hotels, and even car ownership. We will fight this legislation, which directly targets working families. MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale has remained a prominent voice in the Massachusetts media landscape, appearing in numerous articles and interviews over the past month. She recently joined Berkshire Bureau Chief Josh Landes on WAMC and Southcoast Now’s Chris McCarthy on 1420 WBSM to discuss the future of the Massachusetts Republican Party and the effort to elect Republicans at all levels. State of the Commonwealth Response Last month, the MassGOP delivered our second State of the Commonwealth Response, presented by Representative Marcus Vaughn of the 9th Norfolk District. In a powerful rebuttal to Governor Healey’s address, Rep. Vaughn outlined a vision for moving Massachusetts forward through commonsense reforms and pragmatic leadership. He addressed critical issues, including the migrant crisis, the need for transparency on Beacon Hill, the dangers of one-party rule, and solutions to make Massachusetts more affordable for all.
