Advocacy Update: What government policies may be affecting you? Sick Days: Thank you to all members who have reached out with their feedback regarding paid sick days, which has been raised by the provincial government to the federal government. CHBA BC, in coordination with many others in the business community, is concerned with proposals that would put the cost on employers. We recognize the impact to your businesses with this issue and are active on this issue accordingly. Should you want to provide additional feedback, please email Alycia Coulter at [email protected]. Financing: Are you or your clients experiencing financing challenges during this crisis? Given the number of residential construction projects that are financed we would like to know the scope of this issue province-wide. We do not need any details of the transaction, but understanding if this is an issue you have experienced, that will impact economic recovery in B.C., is helpful. Economic Recovery Recommendations: CHBA BC has shared policy recommendations to the government on economic recovery options for B.C. We are also pursuing joint recommendations with other stakeholders in the real estate sector. This includes tax changes, consumer incentives, DCC deferrals, and other options to keep projects moving.

We are pleased to announce that all licensing courses are now available in an online only format for Summer 2020. A comprehensive FAQ on how the online courses work is available to view at this link. Students are responsible for ensuring they meet all technical requirements for online courses. Please view the requirements set out by the online proctoring provider, ProctorU here. < Please note, all sessions still posted on the education website for September – December 2020 will remain in-class. As CHBA BC continues to monitor the situation, adjustments will be made to in-class sessions accordingly. Students impacted by these changes will be contacted directly by the Education Department for next steps.
