Fighting the Trump Administration’s illegal and extreme actions is going to take everyone, and I appreciate so many of you reaching out over the past few days to let us know you’re all in. Although it can feel like there is a new, more inhumane policy every day, I will continue to do all I can to fight for what’s best for Hawaii and the country.

Later today, I and a group of Democratic Senators will be holding the floor all-night (and tomorrow) to speak out against Russell Vought, Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Office of Management and Budget. We already know that Russell Vought will use his position to champion the Trump Administration’s extreme policies. He was one of the main drafters of Project 2025. He has consistently advocated for cuts to programs like Medicaid, Social Security, and SNAP benefits but in favor of giving tax cuts to the wealthy.

We aren’t going to let Senate Republicans rush through another bad nominee who will work to dismantle our federal agencies and programs. We are going to force them to run the full 30 hours, and we’ll use that time to share all the ways that confirming Russell Vought will hurt people and families.

I know what’s happening now can feel overwhelming. But I’m thankful to have all of you on the team with me and for your contributions.
