Congressional Democrats denied entry to Treasury Department
It's becoming clear that Elon Musk, under the banner of the totally made-up and definitely not authorized Department of Government Efficiency, has deployed a crack team of engineers barely old enough to buy beer and given them free reign over the Treasury Department — and direct access to the code used to process TRILLIONS of dollars in federal payments. Musk’s young crew have been unmasked as Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran, who are all 19 to 25 years old and have ZERO government experience...and they are reportedly rewriting code, installing their own private email servers, and have access to the Social Security number of every living American. The ultimate goal of all this is clearly for Elon to seize control of government funding at the source and bypass Congress entirely — we are seeing a coup play out in real time before our very eyes. House Democrats marched to the Treasury Department today and were denied entrance, prompting them to hold a protest outside the building and vow accountability. "No one elected Elon Musk to nothing," said Senator Elizabeth Warren. "And yet Elon Musk is seizing the power that belongs to the American people. We are here to fight back. This is no longer business as usual." Would someone PLEASE call the cops and send these children back to school?

Trump says US will take over Gaza Strip
In a rambling and incoherent press conference with war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump announced that the United States would be taking over and "owning" the Gaza Strip, adding that the surviving Palestinians should be deported to Jordan and Egypt while "world people" would replace them after the rubble from the IDF's cataclysmic bombardment was cleared and the territory rebuilt. “This was not a decision made lightly. Everybody I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land, developing and creating thousands of jobs with something that will be magnificent...I would like to see Jordan, I’d like to see Egypt take some. Look, the Gaza thing has not worked. It’s never worked,” said Trump. It appears that ethnic cleansing is now *official* US government policy.

Senate votes to confirm Pam Bondi as attorney general
Democratic Sen. John Fetterman crossed the aisle to vote to confirm the wildly corrupt Trump loyalist and election denier Pam Bondi as attorney general for the United States, because Donald and his team really deserve a good show of bipartisanship right about now. Earlier in the day, 24 Democrats also helped confirm election denier Doug Collins to the position of Veterans Affairs secretary. Unbelievable. What are we DOING here, people?

USAID staff around the world put on leave, ordered to return to US
The thousands of Americans who have spent their careers working in international development on behalf of the American people are now being forced to uproot their lives and have been given one month to return to the United States as part of Elon Musk's personal and very illegal crusade against the agency. "I gave a lot of my adult life to this agency working in really adverse conditions in conflict zones and what I got in return is a 'thank you for your service' out of nowhere so I can go file for unemployment I guess," said one USAID official who is posted abroad. "I feel devastated. I feel like it’s cruel, what they're doing. Every day has been mass confusion," said another USAID official currently serving overseas.

Negotiations stall ahead of shutdown deadline as Democrats slam Trump for subverting spending laws
Well, it's that time of the "every three months" again, where House Republicans are unable to come to anything resembling a consensus on a must-pass government funding bill with a looming shutdown deadline. The House Budget Committee has punted yet again on marking up a budget resolution this week, as Freedom Caucus Republicans are dead-set on taking a buzzsaw to the federal budget — to the eye-rolling frustration of literally everyone else. Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina told Puck that he wants $2 trillion in spending cuts, which is utterly insane and dead on arrival in the Senate. GOP leadership have offered $500 billion in budget cuts, which will certainly be inadequate for the radicals. To make matters worse (for them, at least), Trump has ordered no cuts to Social Security or Medicare, making it extremely difficult to find enough cuts to satisfy the brain-dead jackals in the Freedom Caucus. Oh, and Democrats are making it clear that they're going to use this budget fight to force through some accountability for Elon Musk and the band of children he has rummaging through the Treasury Department code...so long story short, get ready for a shutdown in March.

BTC leads collective of progressive creators with plan to take back the internet from Joe Rogan and the right-wing machine
Chorus: This election has made it painfully clear that Democrats' messages are just not getting through the tsunami of right-wing propaganda and lies flooding through social media, and we have no real answer to a Joe Rogan or a Ben Shapiro...until now! Chorus Collective is a new collaborative founded by creators like Brian Tyler Cohen, Leigh McGowan (Politics Girl), Roland Martin, David Pakman, Elizabeth Booker Houston, and Adam Mockler, who are bringing their audience of 40 million people together to create a new infrastructure to scale their voices and build support for more creators like them. Chorus aims to not only amplify progressive voices but also uplift new creators and build a left-wing social media ecosystem that supports its voices ALL the time, not just in the months leading up to an election. Will you chip in to help Chorus get off the ground and help break the right-wing stranglehold on social media?
New Democratic bill targets Elon Musk
A veteran House Democrat is introducing new legislation to respond to Trump sugar daddy Elon Musk's definitely not legal overhaul of the federal government. Rep. Mark Pocan on Wednesday rolled out the Eliminate Looting of Our Nation by Mitigating Unethical State Kleptocracy (ELON MUSK) Act, which would ban "special" government employees like Musk from having federal contracts. “No government employee, ‘Special’ or not, should have any financial interest in who the government does business with," Pocan said. "Elon Musk is the poster child for this type of potential abuse. After more than $20 billion in federal contracts, there’s no way Musk can be objective in what he’s doing." No way it gets passed by a Republican Party who is currently competing in a caucus-wide America's Most Shameless Bootlicker competition, but it's a cudgel we can use to message, message, message — who the hell does Elon think he is and what the hell is he doing with our frickin' Social Security numbers?
Republican-led states rush to align with Trump's MAGA agenda
As state legislatures have convened across the country in recent weeks, elected GOP officials have sought to advance bills designed to help facilitate Trump’s mass deportation plans, and governors and lawmakers in at least 11 states have attempted to create their own version of "DOGE" to gut their states' governments and allow greedy corporations to fill the gap. The economic divides between red and blue states are about to widen astronomically.
