Believe it or not, May is nearly over. And while we've welcomed the opportunity to honor Asian American and Pacific Islander leaders who have played a critical role in our movement during AAPI Heritage Month, we can't help but look forward to next month and the start of both Immigrant Heritage Month and Pride Month.
Especially right now, as we all experience the challenges and heartache of the ongoing pandemic, it's important that we take a few moments to celebrate the immigrants, people of color, and New Americans—#PeopleLikeUs—who shape our country. This June, New American Leaders is proud to honor the fierce, badass immigrant and LGBTQ+ leaders who blazed a trail for our movement and celebrate the leaders who continue the work to create a more inclusive democracy.
