Friends,
So much has changed in recent months, but there will still be an election in less than six months. And one thing this crisis has made abundantly clear is we need experienced leaders at the helm who are focused on solutions.
That’s what this job is all about. I focused on solutions during my time on the Baltimore City Council and as Baltimore’s County Executive, and it’s what I’m doing now as the proud representative for Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District.
I’m fighting to protect health care for millions and make it more affordable, improve job opportunities and increase wages for workers, safeguard Social Security and Medicare for seniors, improve benefits for veterans, and strengthen our national security.
I want to do all of that and so much more, but we’re facing a battle to Election Day.
I know that not everyone is in a position to contribute right now, and that’s OK -- please do what’s best for you and your family. But if you are able to give a few dollars, it will strengthen our campaign for the fight ahead.

I’m competing in a crowded field. There are several opponents who would like to see me gone, and if we’re going to overcome their attacks and win in November, then we need to continue to raise resources, reach our fundraising goals, and reach as many voters as possible.
Honestly, my least favorite part of my job is asking for contributions, but unfortunately, that’s still the reality of political campaigns.
But now, campaigning looks very different.
We’ve canceled all of our in-person events and instead of on-the-ground organizing, we need to get out the vote virtually -- through teleconferences, video calls, social media, phonebanking, and digital and TV ads.
All of those things require strong grassroots support, and that’s why I’m reaching out to you to humbly ask: If you can, will you make a contribution to our campaign?
Your friend,
Dutch
