Nothing builds public trust like forced compliance and zero accountability.

Democrats Push More Government Control, Call It "Science"
Washington Democrats are, once again, attempting to expand government power. This time it’s with House Bill 1531, a vague and overreaching power grab disguised as a “public health” measure. The bill would strip local health departments of decision-making power, because apparently, Olympia knows better than the people actually serving their communities. It’s loaded with feel-good phrases about “evidence-based measures,” but conveniently leaves out who gets to decide what “best science” actually means. Critics rightfully point out that this bill would erode public trust even further—because nothing says “trust us” like forcing one-size-fits-all policies on everyone.
And, of course, there’s an emergency clause to block voters from having any say in the matter—because Democrats just can’t risk the public weighing in on their authoritarian health agenda. Even a local health official admitted that trust is built through community relationships, not mandates from on high. But Gov. Bob Ferguson’s office is all in, because nothing screams “for your own good” like top-down control from the people who botched COVID policies. If Washington Democrats truly cared about “science,” they’d respect local decision-making instead of ramming through laws that let bureaucrats dictate personal health choices. But as usual, their answer to everything is more government, less freedom, and no accountability.

Democrats: Soft on Crime, Hard on Common Sense
During a recent hearing in Olympia, Democrat State Rep. Tarra Simmons, an ex-con herself, said she doesn’t think killing someone while driving under the influence should count as a strike under Washington’s three-strikes law. Because, apparently, choosing to get behind the wheel drunk and ending a life is just a “bad decision” rather than, you know, a crime with devastating consequences. This comes as a slap in the face to families like those of WA Trooper Chris Gad, who was killed by an illegal immigrant driving under the influence. But, as Ari Hoffmans points out, Simmons isn’t stopping there—her latest bright idea is letting felons volunteer in schools, because what could possibly go wrong? At this rate, Washington Democrats seem more concerned with coddling criminals than protecting the public. Watch the video for yourself via Ari Hoffman’s X post here.

Democrats Vote for Parental Rights, Then Work to Kill Them in the Shadows
As Shift WA previously reported, Washington Democrats overwhelmingly passed the Parents’ Bill of Rights to avoid voter backlash—then immediately moved to gut it with HB 1296. They claim it’s about “student safety,” but really, it’s about keeping parents in the dark while schools make decisions behind their backs. Apparently, Democrats believe teachers and bureaucrats should have more say over a child’s medical and mental health decisions than actual parents. The same party that screams about “bodily autonomy” suddenly doesn’t think parents deserve to know if their kid is undergoing life-altering treatment. The lawsuit against Initiative 2081 was a desperate attempt to derail basic parental rights, backed by activists who think transparency is dangerous. Meanwhile, Democrats have no problem hiding a student’s gender transition from their own family while demanding taxpayers fund whatever ideology they’re
pushing in the classroom. GOP Rep. Travis Couture called them out for their bait-and-switch tactics—pass the bill to look reasonable, then quietly kill it later. But that’s the Democrat playbook: deceive voters, expand government control, and block parents from knowing what’s really happening with their kids. Read more at Ballotpedia.

Seattle Democrats: Protecting Illegal Immigrants, Sticking Taxpayers with the Bill
Seattle Democrats are so committed to shielding illegal immigrants from federal law that they’re willing to risk losing hundreds of millions in funding—because who needs roads, right? Mayor Bruce Harrell and the City Council would rather defy immigration enforcement than keep the city financially stable, forcing residents to cough up even more in taxes to cover their reckless policies. Their solution to losing federal money? A massive transportation levy that squeezes homeowners for an extra $530 a year. In typical Democrat fashion, they call this “stability” while turning Seattle into a sanctuary for lawlessness at taxpayers’ expense.
