Let's be a witness for Christ on Capitol Hill and across America!

Dear John,

Last week, our nation experienced terrible loss when two devastating plane crashes led to the loss of life in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., with many wondering what caused them.

As our government and the National Transportation Safety Board work to investigate the cause of the crash that took place over the Potomac in particular, it will likely take time to evaluate all the factors that could have led to this horrible tragedy.

With a new presidential administration and new Congress taking over earlier this month, our new leaders and our nation need prayer to know how best to move forward.

But we don't need prayer only when tragedy strikes or as a last resort. Prayer should be our first response -- as a people and a nation.

That's why, tomorrow, we will be hosting the 2025 National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance in partnership with Well Versed, here in Washington, DC. Speaker Mike Johnson, FRC Board Chair and Dean of Regent University's School of Government Michele Bachmann, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, author Nick Vujicic, various members of Congress, international guests, and others will all be gathering with us as we cry out to God for His healing in our land.

This event is just one of the ways that FRC is leading to restore America's moral foundation so that our nation can be great again. Not only are we helping to facilitate prayer initiatives like this, but we're praying for our nation's leaders and ministering directly to them on Capitol Hill.

PARTNER WITH FRC

Ever since our founding in 1983, Family Research Council (FRC) has been a constant witness for Christ in the halls of government. Although we form relationships with elected officials and advocate for policies that align with biblical principles, we believe that God's Word -- not us -- ultimately has the power to transform the hearts and minds of those in leadership.

With a new presidential administration and new Congress, we have a renewed opportunity to advance faith, family, and freedom. But we also know that the forces of secularism and moral compromise will stop at nothing to try and undermine biblical truth. Conservative leaders face immense pressure to abandon their principles, and we must intercede for them to stand for righteousness!

Think back to what happened in 2022 with the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act. Thirty-nine conservative members in the House of Representatives and 12 in the Senate voted to severely undermine the institution of marriage in our laws. Sadly, even those who say they will stand for faith, family, and freedom are at risk of compromising those values. That's why we must be actively encouraging and equipping leaders in Washington, D.C., to do the right thing.

Without the guidance of biblical truth, government leaders may struggle to lead in a way that honors God and upholds righteousness. Some may even use their office to attack biblical principles and impede the mission of the gospel.

That is why it is essential that we place God's Word directly in their hands: to equip them with the wisdom they need to govern effectively and remind them that they will ultimately answer to God for how they steward their office.

Your gift today can further our efforts to reach our elected officials on Capitol Hill. With your help we can work to place a Bible in the hands of a member of Congress, along with a letter of prayer and encouragement from FRC, our Stand on the Word Bible Reading Plan, and our 10 Hallmarks of Righteous Leaders -- a resource outlining biblical principles for governance.

WITNESS FOR CHRIST WITH FRC

Through this initiative, we are ensuring that every member of Congress, regardless of their background or party affiliation, has access to Scripture, prayerful encouragement, and sound biblical leadership principles. These resources will serve as a source of strength for those who stand for biblical truth and of conviction for those who don't. Will you help us witness for Christ on Capitol Hill?

This isn't just political activism -- it's part of the Great Commission! Jesus told us to "make disciples of all nations," and that includes our elected officials.

The challenges facing our nation's leaders are immense. Every day, they must navigate complex policy decisions, cultural pressures, and moral dilemmas.

Our leaders need prayer and encouragement to stand strong in the face of cultural and political pressures. Scripture tells us to pray for those in authority:

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." (1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV).

Consider where we were just four years ago -- and contrast that with the incredible opportunity before us today. The direction of our nation is not set in stone. It depends on the willingness of believers like you to pray for and stand in support of godly leadership.

Together, we can encourage, equip, and strengthen our leaders to stand for biblical truth and safeguard our nation's spiritual foundations for future generations.
