On his first day in office, President Donald Trump issued an executive order ending birthright citizenship, an order that a Reagan-appointed judge called “blatantly unconstitutional.” Now, dozens in the House of Representatives are co-sponsoring H.R. 569, which would also deny citizenship to children of non-citizens.

Birthright citizenship has been the law of the land since the Supreme Court ruled in US v. Wong Kim Ark that the Constitution granted citizenship to American-born children without a citizen parent.

Ending automatic citizenship for people born in the United States is the beginning of a slippery slope where citizenship and our rights could be denied to any of us. It's too dangerous to even contemplate further.
