Dear Health Advocates,

It is another busy week full of advocacy and defense. We have some exciting opportunities coming up to continue holding the line on Medicaid defense and keeping the current administration in check.

Republican plans to make massive cuts to the Medicaid program — as much as $2.3 trillion — means this critical lifeline for health coverage and a foundational source of economic security for 80 million people is at risk. Families USA and a number of national partners have organized a Medicaid Day of Action for this Thursday, February 6, to say no cuts to Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. Please see our resource page and join us in this day of action by:

Calling in to your member of Congress (by using 866-426-2631 on the day of action, provided by the SEIU)
Sending an email reaching out to your members of Congress
Call on them to defend Medicaid
Request a meeting and storytelling outreach
Post on social media using this toolkit and the hashtags #HandsOffMedicaid and/or #HandsOffOurMedicaid

We also have a new resource to share. Through a series of roundtable discussions with national policy experts, state advocates and stakeholder organizations, Families USA identified substantial gaps in oversight governing the Medicaid managed care system. This new policy agenda outlines common sense proposals that would bring transparency and accountability to Medicaid managed care to ensure this system of care delivery lives up to its promise to lower costs and deliver high-quality care to the 66 million Americans that depend on it.
