The richest man in the world has taken control of the government. He is seizing the power to illegally stop government payments — including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid — as he sees fit. The crisis is here―and it’s time for Democrats to act like it.

This is Project 2025 in action: The Department of the Treasury has given Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, veto power over every single payment. These payments have been authorized by law, and approved by the agencies with relevant expertise. It should not be up to a single individual who was not elected to any office, nor confirmed by any democratic body, to unilaterally cancel the government’s promises without due process.

Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are on the line. So are prescription drugs.

There are 1,447 days until the next President is sworn in. Every day we can slow Musk and Trump down is another day where we’re closer to the end of Trump’s term. Here’s what we’re demanding Democrats do:

1. Deny a Quorum: If Republicans don’t have 51 votes in the chamber, Democrats can walk out and shut down Senate business entirely.

2. Block Unanimous Consent: Object to every procedural shortcut, forcing Republicans to take the longest possible route for every step of the confirmation process.

3. Max Out Debate Time: Use all 30 hours of debate on Vought to expose Project 2025, Musk’s Treasury takeover, and the funding freeze.

4. Delay and Disrupt: Force roll-call votes, quorum calls, and procedural delays to slow everything down.

5. Blanket Opposition: Democrats cannot continue to vote for Trump’s other nominees, helping to install more MAGA loyalists into powerful positions in the federal government while this power grab continues.

6. No Business as Usual: This is a constitutional crisis. Democrats must abandon the old rules and fight with everything they have.

As for Republican Senators, we will flood their offices to remind them that NO ONE VOTED to let an unelected billionaire steal their Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid — and that anyone who is complicit with that theft will pay the price.

This week, the Senate is considering nominees including Project 2025 author Russ Vought, who will team up with Elon to super-charge the cuts. By the end of the week, Vought could be leading the Office of Management and Budget, and Medicare privatization fan Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could be leading the Department of Health and Human Services.
