The NC General Assembly officially began their 2025 legislative session on January 29th. We're excited to see new faces in the legislature like Rep. Beth Helfrich, Sen. Woodson Bradley, and Rep. Monika Johnson-Hostler, and new leadership like Senate Democratic Leader Sydney Batch!
We will be keeping a close eye on the legislature this year, as it is likely Republicans will put forward another anti-abortion bill this session.
Thanks to the work of Lillian’s List and your support, last year Lillian’s List candidates broke the Republican supermajority in the NC House, and the people of North Carolina elected pro-choice Governor Stein. This means that any anti-abortion legislation can be vetoed, and the veto can be upheld by the legislature. Can you donate today to keep supporting our training and recruitment efforts? The margin for upholding a veto is razor-thin and we are already working to recruit and train women to run in 2026.
