MEDIA ADVISORY AND PRESS RELEASE
Congressman Al Green and Congresswoman Kim Reintroduce – The Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act
(Houston, TX) — On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, Congressman Al Green proudly announced the reintroduction of the Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act, a bipartisan bill that he is co-leading with Representative Young Kim. The bill would require that the United States take action to support Taiwan’s admission to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The IMF is a major global financial institution that promotes international economic cooperation and assists as a lender of last resort during major crises. Taiwan’s readmission and participation in the IMF would not only deepen the nation’s engagement and influence in the global economy but also strengthen the confidence of foreign institutions and individuals seeking to invest in Taiwan.
Congressman Al Green stated, “I am honored to join Congresswoman Young Kim once again as the co-lead of the Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act. Taiwan was once a member of the IMF, and I strongly believe it deserves to rejoin this vital organization. As one of the most dynamic economies in the world, Taiwan’s participation would benefit all members of the IMF. I am proud to offer bipartisan support for this legislation, which would strengthen our relationship with Taiwan and further advance its economic growth. Taiwan is a strong, vibrant democracy, and its inclusion in the IMF would bolster both the global economy as well as democratic values around the world.”
