Transportation Transitions: What you need to know about the REAL ID and the OMNY Programs
Friday, February 21st, 2 pm – 3:30 pm
Be prepared for upcoming transportation transitions.
Want to get on a domestic flight? Currently, you can use your NYS ID or a passport to board a domestic flight. But starting in May of this year you will need to get a REAL ID license or have your passport.
Traveling a little closer to home? Be aware that the MTA will begin phasing out MetroCards in the next few months and you will have to use OMNY to get on NYC public transportation if you want to receive your older adult reduced fair discount.
To learn more about the REAL ID and the OMNY programs, attend our February 21st event. We will explain the programs and the process to obtain them.
Speakers:
- Alberto Rolando, New York City Transit
- Tamara Watson and Aysisa Tilghman, NYS Department if Motor Vehicles
You will have the option of joining the event online through Zoom.
You will also have the option to view the event online through Facebook. Please note that you do not need a Facebook account or profile to view the event through Facebook.
Finally, you will have the option of calling in to access the audio-only portion of the event.
The event will feature a question-and-answer session with Tamara Watson, Aysisa Tilghman, and Alberto Rolando. If you have questions about the timeline and process to obtain a NYS REAL ID and/or OMNY and the documents you need to obtain either one, you should attend the Virtual Town Hall on February 21st. Attendees will be able to submit questions through Zoom and Facebook during the event but are *strongly* encouraged to submit them in advance.
This event will be recorded, and the link to the event video and all the resources listed in the chat will be sent to everyone who RSVP'd approximately a week after the event.
A *confirmation* email will be sent to you approximately two weeks before the event.
Please let us know if you plan to attend on February 21st by registering at https://tinyurl.com/REAL-ID-Town-Hall.
Co-sponsored by Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. List in formation.
