His personnel now have access to the U.S. Treasury's payment system — one of the most sensitive financial networks in the world, which distributes trillions of dollars in Social Security, Medicare, tax credits, grants, and contractor payments. It also includes personal data, including Social Security numbers, for millions of Americans. 

This is not a partisan issue: it's about preventing an unelected private citizen, who may have financial interests at stake, from having unchecked power over government finances and access to our personal data.
