When full-scale war broke out in Ukraine nearly three years ago, no one could predict the scale of the crisis or the challenges that lay ahead.

There was one thing my colleagues and I knew for sure: With the strength of this global movement, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) will do everything possible to meet the urgent needs of people caught in the conflict.

As a medical coordinator in Ukraine, I know that this work is far from over. The fighting on the frontlines of Ukraine remains as devastating as ever: Missile and drone attacks continue, over eight million people are displaced, and the health care system in Ukraine remains devastated.

Displacement and ongoing fighting continue to impact medical access across Ukraine. Thanks to your support, MSF runs mobile clinics in 100 different towns and villages near the frontline in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. Our mobile clinics offer primary health care, mental health counseling, psychoeducation, sexual and reproductive health care, and more.

In the last two years in Ukraine, our teams have also been providing mental health support to help ease the psychological trauma that can come from living through conflict. With the support of this global movement, MSF has provided 26,324 individual psychological consultations for adults and children alike.

Bombings, displacement, and collapsing health care infrastructure have left millions in need. Since April 2022, MSF ambulances have been a lifeline to people caught in the crossfires, with 20 emergency vehicles, 39 paramedics, 10 doctors, and 30 drivers working around the clock to provide critical care and ease the burden on overwhelmed hospitals.
