Today, PublicSource launches its latest series Job One, which looks at how young people with special needs enter the workforce.

In 2004, Managing Editor Rich Lord's family went through the developmental disability evaluation process for their elder son Zach, who is on the autism spectrum. Today, Zach works two part-time jobs, pays taxes, votes, stays fit, volunteers in their neighborhood and helps out a ton around their house. In this story and coming articles, Rich shares information, accounts and observations about the horizons of young people with developmental diagnoses and differences.

The first article examines how developmental disability diagnoses can bring anxiety and uncertainty for individuals and families, but can also bring help.
