Should unelected billionaires have access to your sensitive Treasury data, including Social Security and Medicare payment systems?

Dear Neighbor,

I'm writing to you about a very concerning development affecting every American.

A day after David Lebryk, a career civil servant who briefly served as Acting Treasury Secretary, abruptly resigned from his position, media outlets reported that representatives from Elon Musk's "DOGE" were granted access to the department's federal payment system.

This raises all kinds of questions, including how the world's richest man will use Americans' sensitive personal information, how he might block people’s Social Security and Medicare benefits, which of the congressionally-approved funds he's illegally blocked from going to communities and businesses around the country, and foremost of all: why Donald Trump has allowed an unelected billionaire to control all of our taxpayer dollars.

I appreciate your feedback and remain committed to working with my House Democratic colleagues and in my role on the Ways and Means Committee—which oversees taxes, Social Security, Medicare, social services programs, and more—to stop this blatant abuse of the government.

Thank you for reading,
