John, the dysfunction we are seeing in Washington right now is inexcusable.
As you might have seen by now, the White House announced that they would freeze all funding of federal loans and grants. This hurts communities from every walk of life — affecting programs like SNAP, Medicare, Meals on Wheels, and Head Start.
This order from President Trump is unlawful, plain and simple. Unfortunately, that is just the beginning of the chaos.
After being sued by several states for withholding essential funding, including Connecticut, the administration announced that they would rescind the order.
But just a few hours later, the White House press secretary tried to backtrack — saying that it was not rescinded after all, and that the order “remains in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.”
Nobody — Republicans, Democrats, Independents — knows what is going on. At every turn, we are left with more questions than answers.
And while all of this is happening, John, our most vulnerable neighbors are left confused. This freeze impacts every community in the 41 cities and towns across CT-05, and I have heard the outpouring of anger from constituents. This is unsustainable, and it cannot stand.
As funding is paused and legal challenges are filed, I remain committed to working to restore impacted programs and stand up for the people of Connecticut.
I am also working to take back the House majority, so we can restore commonsense leadership back to Congress and focus on the real issues at hand. If you are able, will you pitch in $10 to help me continue defending the people of CT-05?
