Happy Black History Month,
John! 💙
This month, we celebrate Black joy, resilience, and the undeniable power
of Black changemakers.
Now more than ever, we don’t just honor the past — we fuel the fight for
the future.
Gun violence disproportionately impacts Black communities. But violence
doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it thrives in environments shaped by poverty,
over-policing, underfunded schools, and lack of opportunity.
Black men are 14 times more likely to be shot and killed than white men.
Black children are 10 times more likely to lose a loved one to gun
violence.
These aren’t just statistics—they’re part of a systemic crisis.
We must break the cycle of violence. We must disrupt the system of white
supremacy. We’re not free from gun violence until we’re ALL free from gun
violence.
Addressing the root causes of violence is the only way we will see change.
That includes:
* Community-led violence intervention programs
* Investment in mental health and trauma care
* Safe spaces for youth to thrive
* Dedication to breaking down systemic racism
This month and every month we look to Black-led organizations and leaders
for the path toward Black liberation and survival. We uplift and amplify
their voices and visions for the future.
Together we honor the past and fuel the fight for the future. ✊
In solidarity,
March For Our Lives
