Donald Trump has already ruthlessly attacked the Constitution while rolling back our freedoms and sabotaging federal government functions.
Today marks only two weeks of Trump 2.0. I know, it feels like it’s been a lifetime.
So far in his second presidency, Donald Trump has already ruthlessly attacked the Constitution and the separation of powers that make our country a democracy rather than an autocracy or authoritarian government, while rolling back our freedoms and sabotaging our critical government functions that provide services to millions of people.
He and his far-right administration are:
- Trying to roll back the right to birthright citizenship guaranteed in the 14th Amendment (which I sued him over);
- Attempting to freeze trillions of dollars in federal funding for essential health, food, housing, disaster relief, public safety, education, and childcare services (which I also sued him over);
- Silencing scientists and censoring agencies like the CDC, ordering them to halt all public communications;
- Attacking the LGBTQ+ community in a number of ways, including banning trans troops from serving in the military;
- Scrubbing government websites of any mention of climate change, gender, transgender and non-binary identities, racial justice, and other important topics like HIV prevention and sexual violence;
- Rolling back DEI initiatives and attacking the very notion of hiring and promoting women, people of color, people with disabilities, and people from all backgrounds in government roles;
- Pushing out thousands of federal government workers, urging them to get “more productive” jobs in the private sector, setting the stage for privatization of government services;
- Handing unchecked power over to billionaire private citizen Elon Musk and letting him access sensitive private data like Americans’ social security numbers, etc.
This is a lot, and that’s the point: the Trump administration is sowing chaos and confusion, trying to overwhelm us so we feel powerless. We can’t fall by the sidelines and let them win.
I’m giving it my all to take Trump to court when he breaks the law, and protecting all Californians from his right-wing attacks on our fundamental rights and well-being.
With only two weeks down and four years to go, we have our work cut out for us. Will you join me in standing up for our democracy, our values, and our people by pitching in $5 or more toward our grassroots campaign?

This is a pivotal moment in our nation’s history, and while I know it’s scary and overwhelming, remember that we are in this together, and I am fighting for each and every one of you.
In solidarity,
