America First isn’t just a slogan; it’s a policy that’s going to get our country back on track.
On the campaign trail, President Trump repeatedly promised he would combat the flow of illegal aliens and drugs coming into our country. As you know, he has already taken extraordinary action to do just that.
From ending catch-and-release to designating cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, President Trump has proven that he’s serious about quickly fixing the border crisis he inherited from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. In just the first two weeks of his Administration, we’ve seen incredible success from Trump’s commonsense policies — but he’s just getting started.
As promised, President Trump recently announced tariffs on imported goods from Mexico, China, and Canada — utilizing another tool at his disposal to put America first.
Specifically, the Trump Administration is implementing a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% additional tariff on imports from China. Energy resources from Canada will have a lower 10% tariff. According to the White House, these tariffs will be in effect until the crisis of illegal aliens and drugs is alleviated.
President Trump’s goal with these tariffs is simple: Make America Safe Again.
This latest bold action shows President Trump’s dedication to wielding powerful leverage to put our well-being and national security first.
After all, hundreds of Americans die from fentanyl every single day. China plays a major role in this tragic drug epidemic, with the Chinese Communist Party directly subsidizing the manufacturing and export of illicit fentanyl materials. Mexican drug cartels notoriously traffic fentanyl and other dangerous drugs into our country. There is also growing production of fentanyl in Canada, with a number of Mexican cartels expanding operations into our neighbor to the north due to its porous border.
Keep in mind, both our southern and northern borders have also been flooded with illegal aliens for the last four years under the Biden-Harris Administration, including dangerous criminals and suspected terrorists.
Undoubtedly, Mexico, Canada, and Communist China all bear responsibility in poisoning and endangering the American people. Now, President Trump is holding them accountable.
Folks, Mexico has already caved! This morning, President Trump announced Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to immediately supply 10,000 Mexican soldiers to the U.S.-Mexico border to assist in stopping the flow of illegal aliens and fentanyl into our country. Subsequently, President Trump implemented a one-month pause on the Mexico tariffs, allowing our two countries to negotiate and reach a deal.
Of course, this isn’t the first time President Trump has leveraged tariffs to achieve America First policies. In addition to using this tool throughout his first term, Trump also successfully used the threat of tariffs last week to force Colombia to accept deportees from the U.S.
Simply put, President Trump is sick and tired of America being both taken advantage of and threatened. These tariffs are a formidable tool to end this madness, putting our safety and national security first.
