John,
It's been a relentless few weeks, and we know trans youth and their families across the country are scared and unsure of what the future holds for their access to health care. There's a lot of information circulating about what you can and can't do, where care can continue or not, and more. So we're gathering our team of patient navigators, care experts, and lawyers to help you cut through the noise to get the facts, figure out next steps to continue care for your family, and support you however we can through this challenging moment.
Join us on Wednesday, February 5th from 7:00-8:00PM ET for an Emergency Town Hall on trans youth healthcare access. We'll share what we know about the recent Executive Order impacting healthcare access for trans youth, information on concrete resources from the Trans Youth Emergency Project (TYEP), and steps you can take to continue care, regardless of where you live. A few key things to remember:
* Our Trans Youth Emergency Project was designed to support families through crises like this. TYEP provides tailored 1-on-1 guidance for families of trans youth, emergency grants to help with travel and medical costs ($500, four times a year), and a network of accurate information regarding providers who are not impacted by restrictions.
* The Executive Order is a big blow – but it is NOT an outright ban on care. We can help you and other families of trans youth identify your options for continuing care, regardless of where you live.
* Trans and queer youth, and their caregivers and friends, are feeling the weight of the wave of executive orders. At the Town Hall we'll preview the upcoming rollout of new resilience tools and workshops.
If you can't attend the Town Hall on Wednesday but still need this vital information, be sure to RSVP on our form – all RSVPs will be sent a recording of the Town Hall and key takeaways after the event is complete. As always, if you have any questions and want to talk directly with a member of our team about options for continuing care, get in touch with the Trans Youth Emergency Project. ([link removed])
If you're confused about what's happening, our team is here to help. RSVP to our Emergency Town Hall on Wednesday, and please forward this email along to anyone who also needs our guidance right now. We will get through this together. ([link removed])
Please stay calm, stay strong, and stay hopeful – we know this is an immensely tough time, but there are so many organizations, individuals, and allies ready to support you through this.
Hope to see you on Wednesday,
The Campaign for Southern Equality Team
P.S. If you aren't impacted by these cruel attacks and want to support families who are, please consider donating $50, $25, or whatever you can give to the Trans Youth Emergency Project. ([link removed])
