Kicking Off Localized State of the State Addresses in Colorado Springs

I delivered my localized State of the State address to business and community leaders in Colorado Springs. I discussed Colorado’s leadership in increasing the supply of housing, investing in a convenient transit system to save people time and money, protecting our clean air and public spaces, making our communities safer, preparing Colorado students for success, and creating a competitive business environment and workforce to foster growth and innovation.

Earlier this year, I delivered

Highlighting Efforts in Pueblo to Prepare Coloradans for Educational and Career Success

I met with AmeriCorps members in Pueblo to learn how

AmeriCorps is utilizing apprenticeships and increasing opportunities for members to get credentials that prepare service members for success and strengthen our economy.

Connecting Coloradans with opportunities to gain credentials and develop skills with a paid apprenticeship will strengthen our workforce and economy, and I am thrilled that AmeriCorps is doing exactly that in Pueblo and around our state.

I also visited new Pueblo Community College President Dr. Chato Hazelbaker to congratulate him and to celebrate the college’s efforts to strengthen Colorado’s workforce. I toured the school’s recently renovated welding labs, which will improve student’s opportunities to get the skills they need to fill in-demand welding jobs. These renovations were supported by remaining state funding from

Building and Sustaining International Partnerships

British Consul General Richard Hyde and I signed

a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Colorado and the United Kingdom (U.K.) to foster cooperation on economic relations, trade, and investment. We had been working on this for two years and it was exciting to complete it!

This exciting new partnership will develop and promote shared opportunities between Colorado and the U.K. in clean energy, climate smart agriculture, quantum technologies, space technology, tourism, and artificial intelligence.

In Pueblo, I joined Mayor of Pueblo Heather Graham, former Mayor Nick Gradisar and Pueblo Community College President Dr. Chato Hazelbaker in welcoming a delegation from Slovenia to Pueblo that included Slovenian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Iztok Mirošič, and Consul Tamara Gorenc.

Colorado and Slovenia share a long-standing partnership through the National Guard State Partnership Program, which has fostered collaboration in security, education, and cultural initiatives since its inception.
