[1]Mark Kelly for Senate
Friend, it’s Mark.
We heard from President Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, last week.
And before I get too far, I want to underscore the stakes of this position. It was created in the years following September 11th, when it became clear that someone needed the authority to analyze, synthesize, and operationalize the intelligence gathered from our 18 intelligence agencies — from the CIA to the NSA. The Director of National Intelligence has to use everything at their disposal to advise the president and keep our nation safe.
It’s a position of tremendous responsibility, and requires impeccable judgement.
I’m worried Tulsi Gabbard does not meet the standard. From her publicly disputing U.S. intelligence about now-deposed Syrian dictator Assad using chemical weapons against his own people, to her hostility towards some of the most important tools we have to gather intelligence, these are serious concerns for the person tasked with overseeing our intelligence agencies and safeguarding our most closely guarded secrets.
Before this nomination heads to the floor, I’m hoping you’ll add your voice.
Please, if you share my concerns about Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, sign on here and let me know. There’s still time to make your voice heard.
