Email from ENA Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman got kicked out of Congress by AIPAC. We’re fighting to put more pro-Palestinians in Congress… John, Exactly one month ago the new Congress was sworn in. Absent among those taking their constitutional oaths were Jamaal Bowman (D-New York) and Cori Bush (D-Missouri). They were kicked out of Congress because they lost primaries to pro-Israel Democrats who were funded by AIPAC, DMFI, and other right-wing pro-Israel groups. These anti-progressive groups don’t just fund primary challenges against outspoken members of the House Progressive Caucus, but they openly and outwardly deny the realities of Netanyahu’s war on Gaza. The day before Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman’s replacements were sworn in to Congress, AIPAC tweeted the lie that “Hamas can end the war in Gaza today if it surrenders and frees the hostages.” But the evidence - and Netanyahu’s own words - show us that this war stopped being about Israeli hostages a long time ago. Netanyahu and his far-right extremist government have destroyed most of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and killed over 45,000 civilians, using Hamas as a pretext for mass murder. Now, with a shaky ceasefire in place, we know better than ever that AIPAC’s lies about the genocide were just that: lies. In fact, peaceful negotiations have brought many more hostages home than did bombing and shooting. AIPAC knows this and they choose to lie about it anyway in order to fuel their cynical cycle of raising money and spending it to elect MAGA candidates. AIPAC spreads these lies because they want us and the candidates they fund to believe that Israel can do no wrong. But we know better and that’s why we are gearing up to help defeat AIPAC-endorsed candidates in the 2025 special elections and the 2026 midterms. AIPAC’s motto is that “Being pro-Israel is good policy and good politics” but neither are true. Good policies uphold human rights and good politics means listening to the majority of voters who want the suffering in Gaza and the West Bank to end. AIPAC’s policies and politics aren’t just bad - they’re deadly. Let’s put an end to the devastation in Gaza and our representatives’ support for it.
