[link removed] [[link removed]] John,

Today marks two years since the East Palestine train derailment, and I joined CNN this morning to share updates on my fight for rail safety.

It's been two years since my Beaver County constituents saw that fireball in the sky. 5,000 people evacuated and cleanup costs topped $800 million. That didn’t have to happen. And we can’t let powerful railroads get away with Congress doing absolutely nothing to change our laws around rail safety.

We can’t trust the railroads to regulate themselves. That’s why we need common-sense safety improvements: better requirements to protect wheel bearing failures like the one in East Palestine, increased fines for wrongdoing, enhanced safety procedures for trains carrying hazardous materials, and requirements for railroads to operate with at least two-person crews.

We have to make rail safer and protect communities like ours. If you’re with me, please sign your name below → [[link removed]]

It’s no surprise that the same big-money interests that have been lobbying against this bill fund a shady, dark-money PAC. The Koch network has spent millions trying to stop this legislation while funding groups like Americans for Prosperity, which funded efforts to beat me in 2024. But I’m not backing down.

This should not be a partisan fight. I will continue pushing my colleagues, Democrats and Republicans alike, to get this done.

I'm not willing to roll the dice on my community's safety on the generosity of the railroads.

Instead, I’m fighting to pass rail safety laws and hold them accountable. I hope you’re with me in this fight,

Chris
