NEW: FRANKLIN TAPPED TO CHAIR ENVIRONMENT SUBCOMMITTEE
Last week, I was honored to be selected as Chairman of the Science, Space and Technology Environment Subcommittee in the 119th Congress. I’m eager to tackle environmental issues related to improving extreme weather monitoring, ensuring disaster readiness, restoring our waterways and more to fortify community health and safety. I will also work to facilitate commonsense initiatives to integrate cutting-edge AI technology into environmental research. In my second term on the Science, Space and Technology Committee, I look forward to advancing America First policy priorities to remain at the forefront of innovation and boost job growth. SLASHING TAXES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
Small businesses are one of the main engines of our nation’s economy. They also provide one of the greatest paths to achieving the American Dream. Lower taxes are a proven way to stimulate economic growth and create jobs. However, a critical section of President Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Section 199A of the Internal Revenue Code, is scheduled to expire at the end of this year. It allows up to a 20 percent deduction of qualified income for small businesses. A significant 2.6 million jobs and $325 billion of the GDP are supported by this deduction. That's why I cosponsored H.R. 703, the Main Street Tax Certainty Act, to permanently extend Section 199A of the Internal Revenue Code to give small businesses peace of mind to invest in their workers and communities without fear of a looming tax spike.
