An exciting update from the EARN team

EARN Community,

It is with great excitement that I write to announce that last month, EARN’s Jennifer Sherer was promoted to the role of Deputy Director of EPI’s State Policy and Research / EARN team. Jen has served on the EARN team since 2021, leading EARN’s State Worker Power Initiative. In that time, she has led a remarkable expansion in the network’s capacity and engagement in support of worker organizing and powerbuilding.

Many in the EARN community have seen Jen’s engaging and informative Unions 101 trainings and other network education events. Many EARN groups and labor partners have benefited from her smart and responsive technical assistance, policy guidance, and communications and campaign support. And many policymakers, media reporters, and others have read her incisive reports, blog posts, and testimony explaining the need for state, local, and federal labor law reform and the benefits it can bring to working people.

Jen has helped numerous EARN groups advance—and in many cases win—powerful state and local policies to strengthen collective bargaining rights, labor standards, and worker power. She has also helped to secure and oversee grants of nearly $7 million to EARN groups, enabling them to add capacity to support pro-worker policy and organizing campaigns.

Jen’s decades of experience in the labor movement, broad and deep policy expertise, brilliant communication skills, and savvy campaign know-how have made her an invaluable resource to EPI and the EARN network. She has served for much of the past year as EARN’s Acting Deputy Director, and in that time, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and commitment to advancing multiracial, worker solidarity and economic justice. She is also just a wonderful colleague.

I am thrilled to have Jen taking on the Deputy Director role in a permanent capacity. Please join me in congratulating her.

In solidarity,

Dave Cooper
Director, State Policy and Research / EARN
